How to dispose garbage

You have to separate waste materials into dierent types.
  • Waste materials must be separated and packaged into different bags by type using different
    disposal methods. If you don’t separate garbage by type or illegally dispose of them, you will
    be subject to penalties of less than 1 million KRW.
    ※ Garbage plastic bags can be purchased at supermarkets or convenience stores in your
    neighborhood.
Garbage is divided into three types: general waste (white plastic bag), food waste (white
plastic bag) and recyclable waste (ordinary semi-transparent bag).
  • Non-recyclable paper items such as vinyl coated paper (including advertisement leaflets,
    packaging paper, promotional leaflets, etc.), oil-coated or vinegar-treated packing paper,
    printout paper, or other paper tainted with foreign material must be classified as general
    garbage.
  • Non-recyclable items including pillows, cushions, sitting cushions, dolls, disposable diapers,
    water-repellent coated clothe, inner ware, flowers & plants, small quantities of wood material,
    fallen leaves, bones, clamshells, hard seeds, used instant noodle containers, nut shells, fruit
    seeds including peach, disposable teabags, drinking straws, etc. are classified as general garbage.
  • The above types of wastes must be placed into the standard white bag. Please tie the strap of
    the bag before disposal.
  • To minimize the volume of food waste, please remove the liquid and foreign substances inside
    the bag as much as possible, and then put it into a standard green bag. Please tie the strap of
    the bag before disposal.
  • Recyclable garbage must be placed into a general semi-transparent plastic bag after removing
    foreign materials.
  • Recyclable garbage includes plastic, paper, glass, tin and vinyl. Bulky recyclable garbage
    including styrofoam and cardboard boxes must be tied up with a strip before disposal.

disposal procedures.
  • Large garbage items include large electronic product wastes like refrigerators, large pieces of
    furniture like beds, and household items like mirrors.
