Voluntary Departure

  • ● Under this scheme, illegal residents who opt for voluntary departure don’t need to pay visit to the Immigration Office that covers their area of residence and instead can declare voluntary departure online in advance.
    ● The Online preliminary declaration is only accepted within 3 to 15 calender days prior to departure. After declaring voluntary departure online in advance, in-person visit to a public service center is required for the screening process on the day of departure.
       ※ Office Hours of Airport Immigration Offices : Daily, 9:00 am ~ 6:00 pm
    ● As the explanation of the penalty, reduction of the period of the prohibition of entry after the payment and other details as well as the examination (and payment)
    process takes time, please visit our public service center at the immigration office 4 hours prior to your departure time.
    ● If any criminal records or discrepancies between your personal information on the passport and the one declared are found in the screening process, you may be barred from departing on the day.
    You must book a ferry of flight ticket before you proceed with the online preliminary declaration.
    ● If you are scheduled to depart on an early morning or late-night flight, please visit the nearest Immigration Office to complete the preliminary declaration in person between 3 and 15 calendar days prior to your departure date, instead of submitting the online preliminary declaration.
       ※ Office Hours of Immigration Offices : Monday to Friday 9:00 am ~ 6:00 pm

Things to consider when declaring voluntary departure

  • Foreigners who received an administrative disposition, such as departure order, for violating the law are not subject to online preliminary declaration of voluntary departure, and those whose scheduled departure date inevitably exceeds the deadline for departure, due to cancellation of flight, etc., must visit the immigration office that has jurisdiction of their residence within the deadline and apply for the delay of the deadline for departure.
