  • Civil application guide

    • An application for registered foreigners to extend their period of stay prior to the expiration of their current one. Only the following may apply for this through the internet. If applicants are younger than 17, their parents or equivalent legal guardian must apply in their stead.
    • Cultural Arts(D-1), Study Abroad(D-2), General Training(D-4), Journalism(D-5), Religious Affairs(D-6), Professorship(E-1), Foreign Language Instructor(E-2), Research(E-3), Technology Transfer(E-4), Professional Employment(E-5), Non-professional Employment(E-9),Family visitation(F-1, younger than 17 only), Dependent Family(F-3), Working Holiday(H-1), Working Visit(H-2)
    • ※ Exceptions : Industrial Training(D-3), Corporate Investment(D-8), Special Occupation(E-7), Residency(F-2), Marriage Migrant(F-6), Refugees(F-2-4), Overseas Korean(F-4) with a foreign nationality, Permanent Residence(F-5), Miscellaneous(G-1)

    Visiting reservation

    • All registered foreigners can make an appointment with the local immigration office or branch office in order to extend their period of stay before the expiration of the current one (not applicable for Permanent Residency(F-5) holders, since they do not require such extension)

      Processing period with investigation : 2 months (approx.)
    • Reserving an appointment : As a general rule, it is processed within 14 days. However, depending on number of requests for this application, it may take a bit longer

Miscellaneous e-Applications can be applied between 3 to 120 business days before the expiration of the applicant’s status. An appointment for visitation can be reserved until a day before the expiration date (reserving an appointment when there’s more than 120 days to go before the applicant’s status expires is not allowed without a reasonable cause. Thus, if such need for reservation arise, please consult the immigration office (02-2650-6399) before actually making the reservation).
