APEC B.T.C(Business Travel Card)
- Those with APEC B.T.C are may enter Korea without a visa. They are granted Short Term Business (C-2) status and 90 days of stay
- The member nation for APEC B.T.C(14 nations)
- Korea, Australia, the Philippines, New Zealand, Chile, Hong Kong, the Federation of Malaysia, Thailand, Peru, Brunei, Taiwan, Japan, China, Indonesia(Hong Kong issue ABTC to non-citizens that live in Hong Kong) - Chileans are granted single-entry visa good for up to 6 months of stay, based on Korea-Chile Free Trade Agreement
Short Term (C-3)
Application Eligibility
- Those that are going to stay for a short period of time for tourism, transit, visiting relative, conference, culture and art, common training, religious ceremony, collecting academical datum, or other similar reasons (Must not be for profit)
- Those who want to be invited to receive medical treatment at medical institution in Korea by the hospital or inviter with permission of the Medical Services Law

Reference
- Those from countries that are under agreement of multiple-entry visa with Korea, multiple-entry visa will be issued upon request(enforcement regulation of Immigration Control Act Article 9, Subsection 3)
- Those that enter Korea with the purpose of industrial training must apply for Industrial Training status (D-3), and cannot apply for the C-2 or C-3.
Temporary employment (C-4)
Application Eligibility
- Those seeking make profit from performance of music, fine arts, literature, etc.(Whose period of stay is under 90 days)
- Creative artists such as composers, painters, sculptors, craftsmen, writers or photographers.
- Those that direct activities related to music, fine arts, literature, musical performance, dance, movie, or others of the like. For example, manager of professional sports team or the conductor of an orchestra.
- If their period of stay over 91 days, their status turns into Arts/Entertainment (E-6) - Those that are seeking to make profit through performing arts such as entertainment, music, play, sports, advertisement, fashion model, or others of the like.(Whose period of stay is within 90 days)
- Regardless of their pretext, those actively involved (as an individual or as a part of a group) in entertainment, musical performances, or plays for profit. For example, professional athletes or musical performers holding a concert.
- Those that act alongside aforementioned individuals, such as their manager, or make-up artists. - Those that are invited to give a lecture under a contract which guarantees profit (Whose period of stay is within 90 days)
- If the performance does not make any profit, they are classified as Short Term Visit(C-3) statusThose seeking engagement in the field of research or technical training that apply to the following:
- Those seeking engagement in the research of natural science or development of high technology
- Scientists seeking make a study in the institution which is under the Special Treatment Law as to Defense Industry Company
- Those seeking offer expertise of the natural science or the technique of special field of industry in the public or private corporation. - Those seeking employment through contract with public or private corporation, whose period of stay is within 90 days.
- Those dispatched under contract, that are provided with compensation such as the cost of staying.(Whose period of stay is within 90 days)
- Those seeking engage in the field of IT (information technology), e-business, BT (bio-technology), NT (nano-technology), new composite material, transportation facilities, digital appliances, or environmental energy in the domestic corporation with the recommendation of the Minister of related Ministries.(Whose period of stay is within 90 days)

Application Eligibility
- Foreigners qualified by the higher education Act, that are seeking to give lectures or conduct a study in an educational facilities.
- Professor at the academic organization such as KAIST
- Full-time lecturers or a professors that are hired by the educational facilities
- Professors that are specified in a certain field at the university/college or laboratory attached to the university/college - High-quality human resources of science
- Those seeking give lectures or conduct a study at the science-related educational facilities with the recommendation of the Minister of Science and Technology

Foreign Language teaching (E-2)
Application Eligibility
- Those seeking position of foreign language instructor at foreign language institutions or educational facilities (primary school and above)
- Qualification: Natives of the country whose mother language is the one they are teaching. In addition, they must have acquired a bachelor's degree or higher from that country. For people, who graduated a high school or a college in countries that use English as a first language and obtained a bachelor's degree or higher one from Korean universities.
Organization that are permitted to hire Foreign Language Instructor
- Educational facilities (primary school and above) or an attached language institution
- Organizations with a training institute for the employees
- Foreign language institutes registered by the Article 3-2 of the Presidential Decree of Institutes' Establishment, Operation & Private Instruction Law
- Multiple curriculum can be registered and performed
- Applicable to foreign language institutions corresponding to those described under Article 12 of the Presidential Decree of Immigration Act. - Facilities which is set up based on the law of lifetime education and coincides with the standard the Minister of Justice made.
- Lifetime education facility set up and operated by the nation or the local autonomous entity based on other laws.
- Institutions or corporations for developing abilities for employment which are set up based on the employees' job training promotion law.
- Corporations or public organizations that own a lecture room with language instruction equipments, which allows its employees to learn foreign language conversation. * Public enterprises, sub-government organizations, and other public organizations established by the public organization administration law(Can check at www.alio.go.kr)

- Employment health check lists : Based on the government employee regulation accompanying paper. Philopon, Cocaine, Opium, Hemp are the essential points for the drug test, HIV test is also an essential point. - Degree certificates
- Got Apostille or verified from the Korean embassy in foreigner's home country ‘confirmation certificate from the university’ or ‘graduation certificate including degree achievement facts’ or ‘diploma or degree copy’
- If a foreigner hands in a degree certificate for the visa issuance application, and comes to Korea after getting the conversation teacher(E-2) visa, if the document is made as data in the immigration system the degree certificate is able to be omitted when the foreigner wants to move to another workplace through a new visa issuance application. - Issuance of proof of (lack of) criminal records
- A criminal record check which covers your whole country, and also from your country's government.
- The records must be affixed with the relevant nation's Apostille.
※ According to the Korean immigration law a criminal background check from the Korean Ambassador of your country will not be accepted.
※ Nationals of countries that have not signed the Apostille treaty, (China, etc) must get their records verified by their local Korean consulate and those already in Korea who were issued their criminal records from their consulates in Korea have no need for an Apostille
※ In case applicant stay in Korea and is sent Criminal Background Check by mail, Or one's entry to Korea is imminent, the document notarized by one's embassy in Korea may be exceptionally acceptable.
※ Immigration office will not recognize the criminal records issued by online website or E-mail notarized by consulate's office in Korea as a valid criminal records.
- If a foreigner hands in a criminal record check which covers the whole home country's information for the visa issuance application, and comes to Korea after getting the conversation teacher(E-2) visa the criminal record check document is able to be omitted when the foreigner wants to move to another workplace through a new visa issuance application.(This includes the situation such as, visa issuance application made after the foreigner left Korea. But, if the time period from leaving date up to entrance date with the new E-2 visa is more than 3 months criminal record check is needed when alien registration application is made. ) - Related documents for setting up an organization (a copy of business registration, a copy of institution registration, lifetime education facility registration certificate, etc)

Issuance of proof of (lack of) criminal records
- Consulates located in Korea cannot issue proof of criminal records to individuals currently.

• The Korean government is asking for a official criminal record check from your oun country's government, but information of how to get the criminal record check document should be asked to your own country.

Apostille Treaty
- Apostille treaty abolishes requests for validating foreign documents (Tresty #1854, Effective as of July 14th, 2007)
- Documents from countries under the same treaty (92 countries) affixed with an apostille bear the same effect as having verification from the local Korean consulate.
- If applicant's nation is not member of Apostille Treaty, consulate's verification is the same as the past.

Research (E-3)
Application Eligibility
- Those that are engaged in the field of natural science or the field of high technology
- Scientists that are engaged in the study of natural science or high technology at an institute which is set up based on the Facilitation Law for Special Research Institutions, Establishment and Operation; and Research Institutions to be invested by Government - Scientists that are engaged in a study at the institute which is operated by the Special Treatment Law as to Defense Industry Company
- Scientists that are engaged in the study at the institutes mentioned below under the contract with the mentioned organizations in order to develop high technology based on related laws of Technology Development Promotion Act, etc
- Company-attached institute
- Industry Technology Research Corporation under the Industry Technology Research Corporation Promotion Act
- Universities or Colleges under the education law
- National/public institutes
- Technological Supporting Institution under the Formation Law for Industrial Technology
- Non-profit institutes whose foundation is based on a certain law (civil or otherwise).
- Institute of other scientific field or corporation - High technology human resource
- Those willing to engage in the study of high technology development at the institute the government donate, national/public institute, company-attached institute, whose has a letter of recommendation of the Minister of Science and Technology

Technological Guidance (E-4)
Application Eligibility
- Those that offer special technology or expertise at a public/private organization
- to Korean nationals or corporations, based on the regulation of Foreigners Investment Promotion Act - Other than above, those that offer special technology or expertise not available in Korea.
- That are dispatched by a foreign corporation
- That are doing so because it had been newly introduced to a Korean corporation

Permanent Residence (F-5)
Application Eligibility
- Among necessary conditions of attached list 1, No. 28-3, eligibility for permanent residence, enforcement ordinance, Immigration Control Law, a foreign high investor and a foreigner of superior ability in specified fields.
❍ A foreign high investor
- The one who has invested USD 500,000 or more in accordance with 『Foreign Investor Promotion Law』and is hiring 5 Koreans or more.
※ Foreign Investor means who has stocks/shares or donates according to 「Foreign Investor Promotion Law」. However, a corporate body is not applicable.
❍ A foreigner of superior ability in specified fields
1. Field of Science
- One recommended by Minister of education·science·technology with prize record, being reported and standard of citation on SCI(Science Citation Index) and results of research.
2. Field of Business Administration
- One who has worked as a Multinational Managers or Executives at a corporation of world best 500 corporations those are announced by FORTUNE in last 3 years and who is willing to work at a domestic branch, etc.

3. Field of Education
- One recommended by Minister of education·science·technology with being reported and standard of citation on SSCI(Social Science Citation Index) and A&HCI(Art and Humanities Citation Index) and results of research.

- One recommended by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a internationally celebrated artist, director or vocalist, etc.
5. Field of Physical culture
- One recommended by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism among Winners and the coaches who win bronze medal or higher at the Olympics, the International Championship Series, the Asian game or equivalent competition.
- One recommended by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism among who record 16th place or higher at the World Cup and the coaches.

Miscellaneous (G-1)
Application Eligibility
- In accordance with Jeju special act -article 229, Who owns a recreation facility in developed area with development enforcement approval from the governor of Jeju province, accompanied spouse and unmarried minor sons and daughters.
- Those who invests USD200,000 or more and owns.
- If the recreation facility is belonging to more than 2 people, the share of who apply for the visa issuance must be USD200,000 or more.
※ Even though the total amount of investment including the amount of joint owner is more than USD200,000, if the applicant's investment amount is less than USD200,000, it is not available to apply it.
- It's available to apply when the applicant stays at the facility and use it on purpose of recreation. When the applicant doesn't stay at the facility, and let the others use it, it is not available to apply.
※ The others includes the joint owner and members of the recreation facility. But applicant's spouse and unmarried minor sons and daughters are not included to the others.
- The Object of investment must be a facility on purpose of recreation as a recreational condominium. The facility only for tourism as a hotel or a motel is not applicable. - Those that do not fall under any of the other categories of visa, seeking stay for more than 91 days in Korea, and applies to the following:
- Those that are placed under medical care
- Those involved in legal proceedings - Those who want to be invited to receive medical treatment at medical institution in Korea by the hospital or inviter with permission of the Medical Services Law

Allowed Activities
- Recreation, travel, nonprofit cultural and art activities, taking Korean language course in a language institute attached to a university, academic activities, attending meeting, and other non profit activities are allowed.
- If a Miscellaneous(G-1) status holder wants to be a employed worker, to issue another working visa or to change to working status is necessary.
