School System

The outside of international schoolInternational schools in Korea provide the usual American style courses from kindergarten to high school. The ordinary Korean children with the ages under 7 go to kindergarten, with the ages 7 – 12 go to elementary school, with the ages 13 – 15 go to middle school and with the ages 16 – 18 go to high school. Thus, the 7th grade in an international school corresponds to the 1st grade in ordinary Korean middle schools. Once again, the 12th grade in an international school corresponds to the 3rd grade in Korean high school. After completion of Korean high school courses, students take the general exam (as SAT in US) to enter to a university. Some students study technical and business related materials in high school and get a job right after graduation.
