  • What does Limitation on Recognition of Refugee Status refer to?
    - The Minister of Justice may decide not to recognize an applicant as a refugee, even when the refugee status applicant qualifies for refugee status in accordance with the Refugee Convention, if there is substantial cause to believe any of the subparagraph of Article 19 of the Refuge Act of Korea applies to the applicant.
  • You may be limited from being recognized as refugee, if:
    - You are at present receiving protection or assistance from organs or agencies of the United Nations other than United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (hereinafter "UNHCR");
    - You have committed a crime against peace, a war crime or a crime against humanity as defined in international conventions or generally recognized international rules;
    - You have committed a serious non-political crime outside the Republic of Korea prior to his/her admission into the Republic of Korea; Or
    - You have been guilty of acts contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations.
